Problem
The Risk Department of this Investment Bank needed flexible, parameter driven reports from corporate databases which analysts could then enhance and modify in Excel.
Solution
The solution was an Excel Add-In which gave analysts the ability to layout their reports flexibly, using cell values in Excel as parameters to drive the reports’ contents.
Excel cells contained a comment which provided instructions as to which query should be used and which other cells should provide parameter values for each report query.
This gave analysts immense flexibility to construct ad-hoc and bespoke reports from a pool of standardised queries.
